Local delivery · arranged with vetted carriers

Box truck and final-mile delivery in the Seattle–Tacoma area

Box truck delivery in Seattle and the Tacoma area is for the stops a 53-foot trailer cannot reach, or a street with no room to park one. For city and suburban drops we arrange box trucks and cargo vans from vetted local carriers, with a liftgate when the stop has no dock. The carrier runs the truck; Bear Shift is the licensed freight broker that books it and keeps you informed.

Smaller trucks for tighter stops

A box truck is a straight truck with a closed cargo box, much shorter than a semi-trailer, so it can reach downtown loading zones, the back doors of strip malls and residential streets where a tractor-trailer cannot go. A cargo van covers even smaller loads, such as a few cartons or a single pallet.

Many of these trucks carry a liftgate, a platform at the back that lowers pallets and heavy items to street level, so a business without a dock, or a home, can still receive freight. The carrier plans the stop around your delivery window, and you can ask for the driver to call the receiver before arriving.

Deliveries a box truck handles well

  • Store deliveries and restocks in busy commercial areas.
  • Furniture, appliances and fixtures going to homes and offices.
  • Restaurant, clinic and office equipment for sites without a dock.
  • The last leg after a cross-dock, splitting a large load into local stops.

How a local delivery is arranged

  1. You tell us what is being delivered, how many pieces or pallets, and the address with its delivery window.
  2. We confirm whether a box truck, a van or a liftgate is needed and send a price for your approval.
  3. We book a vetted local carrier and send you its arrival window and, when available, the driver's contact.
  4. You follow the delivery with a tracking link and receive the proof of delivery with the receiver's name.

What helps us book the right truck

  • Tell us the number of pieces or pallets with their size and weight, whether the pickup and the delivery have a dock or need a liftgate, and the window when someone will be there to receive.
  • Mention stairs, elevators, narrow streets, parking limits or a building that asks for a certificate of insurance, since those details change which truck and which carrier fit the stop.

Extras on local deliveries

A liftgate, a residential stop, an inside delivery past the front door, waiting time at the address or a second attempt when nobody is there to receive are charged as your quote's terms explain. Ask for them when you request the price, so the carrier sends a truck with the right equipment the first time.

Box truck and final-mile questions

Do I need a loading dock?

No. Ask for a liftgate when you request the price and we look for a box truck that has one; the driver lowers the freight to the ground at your door. Heavy or bulky items may also need a pallet jack or extra hands, so tell us what the pieces weigh.

Can you arrange residential deliveries?

Yes. Home stops are common for box trucks. Give us the address, a phone number for the person receiving and the delivery window, and tell us about stairs or a long walk from the street. Inside delivery is an extra and has to be requested in advance.

Can you arrange a delivery within the same city?

Yes. Short runs within the Seattle–Tacoma area are what this service is for, from one business to another or from a warehouse to a customer. Same-day timing depends on which carriers are free that day, so send the request as early as you can.
